Having just arrived from a tour in Brazil, Sébastien Lefebvre and Charles-André "Chuck" Comeau of Simple Plan had just enough time to drop off their bags in the hotel room before giving A’n’E Vibe this exclusive interview. Being the day before the 2009 Juno Awards, the boys chatted about Juno events, dodging their ecstatic Brazilian fans, and their opinions on where the music industry is going.
I just came from the Juno Fanfare, have you had a chance to participate in this event in the past?
No, do artists go down and sign stuff for fans?

Absolutely, and they take pictures and are interviewed with Much Music among other things.
We just arrived from Brazil so it looks like we missed it, but we’ll hang out with them at the after party, that’s how we roll!

Can you tell me, though, who your favorite Canadian artist is?
There’s a lot! But I’ve actually always had a soft spot for GOB. We’ve toured with them before and think they’re a really amazing band. Bryan Adams is an amazing songwriter. Propagandi is cool man.

Do you have any Canadian artists you would like to collaborate with? I know you’ve done work with Joel Madden of Good Charlotte.
Nelly Furtado! She’s so nice, it would be fun to mix Simple Plan with her for sure!

You guys are nominated for 2 Junos, what do you think of the other artists in your category
They’re good! And they usually win!

What are you going to do to beat them out this year?
I don’t think there’s anything we can do but cross our fingers. We’re one of those bands that tend to be luckier when it’s the fans voting. People’s Choice and stuff like that are awards we may have won in the past, but when it’s the academy voting, they tend to go for the Nickelback. But they are really good.

Who are you rooting for in New Group of the Year?
It’s gotta be The Stills! They’re really good friends of ours. We let their pianist play on our record.

They were being interviewed at Juno Fanfare with Sam Roberts, who is also from Montreal. Are you associated with him?
Ya we know him. We’ve played hockey with him a few times. He’s a great hockey player; he was supposed to be in the NHL… But we recruited him instead (laughs).

What are some new bands you like?
LIGHTS! She’s really cute and seems really fun. I like her music, it always puts me in a good mood

Comatose, a song by Sébastien Lefebvre

After 20 000 plays on "Fall For You" and a lot of chocolate, i decided it was time to put up a new song for you guys.

This is a song that i wrote a long time ago, about 2 years. It has gone through many changes over those 2 years before coming back to it's original version, a simple acoustic song with a semi whisper vocal. It's about floating through life and not really noticing what is happening.
I hope you guys like it and get the word out about my music.
